Track Four Design: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin Web Design, Development, Marketing and Consulting

It's Pronounced DOO-GO-SIN-SKI...

By day, Jim Dlugosinski is a professional web designer, working full-time for J. J. Keller & Associates in Neenah, Wisconsin as a senior web designer. At night (and on weekends!), he helms a small web design services company called Track Four Design (www.trackfourdesign.com). He lives in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin with his wife Tess (a veteran musician with the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band) and their two dogs Ellie and Casey.

At 18085076-some minutes old, Jim has been designing and developing for the web since 1995. In the past 13 years, he has worked for companies such as 3M, Imation, Kimberly-Clark and Miles Kimball, with each employer offering different web design challenges and opportunities.

Prior to his web career, Jim worked in radio as an on-air personality in Central Wisconsin for nearly 10 years. He graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1996 with a BA in communication (although he came painfully close to a double minor in psychology and East European politics.)

With broad experience at all levels of web design and development, Jim continues to build his portfolio of web sites. His primary focus is on small to medium sized business sites, including ecommerce integration, standards-based user-interfaces, and web application design.

Jim is a web standards advocate, which entails site design and development that is accessible to all web-enabled devices, including mobile phones, PDAs and (sadly) refrigerators. Though it can be tricky to make a site look and work the same in IE6, IE7, Firefox, Safari, etc, using the web standards methodology makes the job a lot easier.

And if all goes according to plan, Jim will obtain his certification in Project Management from the University of Milwaukee in early 2008.

Regarding web design, Jim has been known to forcefully declare: "An idea is only as good as its implementation!" and "Simple, but not simpler!" But his design chums usually roll their eyes when he says that.

Some of Jim's influences include Mark Rothko, Lenny Bruce, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cocteau Twins, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Al Einstein, Frank Herbert and Clive Barker.

When not pushing pixels, Jim enjoys time with his wife Tess, walks with the dogs, and watching old episodes of MST3k. Jim also enjoys tinkering in his electronics workshop, is a true lover of fine doughnuts, and enjoys an occasional cigar (Havana Honeys or Arturo Fuente Curly Heads anyone?)

I am now done referring to myself in the third person. :)

So Why "Track Four"?

My wife and I often listen to an album called "The White Arcades" by Harold Budd. Track four of this album (called "The Real Dream of Sails") is our favorite track.

Track. Four. Track Four. Track Four Design!

Now you know. :)
